Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled Band 7 Stoma Nurse Specialist to join our team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of the Digestive and Emergency Surgery Care Group, you will play a vital role in supporting the Colorectal Service across various sites.

This challenging role offers a chance to work closely with an experienced team of Stoma Nurses, contributing to the multidisciplinary approach to patient care. You will provide clinical expertise and advice to patients with stomas, particularly those undergoing bowel resections, cystectomies, and stoma formation surgeries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality clinical care and guidance to patients with stomas.
  • Work collaboratively with medical staff, dietitians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to manage patient care.
  • Lead nurse-led clinics and participate in clinical audits to ensure excellence in care delivery.
  • Develop and deliver education programs to patients, staff, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in Stoma nursing, with expertise in various aspects of stoma care.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Cross-site flexibility to cover any gaps within the team and ensure continuity of care for patients across all service locations.
  • Involvement in managing complex cases, particularly at the Aintree site, which is a trauma centre.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse / Midwife qualification.
  • Post-basic specialist qualification relevant to the specialty.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
