About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead responsibility for clinical decisions which require analysis, interpretation, and comparison of options.
  • Provide a highly specialised clinical psychology service to clients, including assessment, formulation, intervention, and consultation.
  • Delegated responsibility from the Head of Child Psychology for professional leadership, planning, provision, and review of BCUHB Child Clinical Psychology Services.
  • Responsibility for professional leadership and management of psychology staff, including recruitment, supervision, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Child Psychology to devise, develop, interpret, and implement discrete policies and service developments, ensuring high-quality clinical governance processes.
  • Provide highly specialist advice and consultancy on Child Psychology issues, leveraging your expertise to inform practice.
  • Ensure provision of child clinical placements for North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme (NWCPP) doctoral trainees, providing supervised placements and teaching opportunities.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for multi-disciplinary BCUHB staff and NWCPP trainees, enhancing their skills and knowledge in clinical psychology.
  • Utilise highly specialised research skills for audit, policy, service development, and research, contributing to evidence-based practice.
  • Contribute to the recruitment of clinical psychologists, supporting the growth and development of our team.

Requirements

  • Good Honours degree in Psychology.
  • Post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • Registration with Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Clinical Psychologist.
  • Clinical supervision training for supervising Doctoral trainees.
  • Attendance at formal management and health leadership training programmes.
  • Doctoral level advanced specialist knowledge of clinical psychology theory and practice, psychological therapies, and their application, neuropsychological and psychometric assessment and interpretation.
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practised within clinical psychology.
  • Attendance at several taught post-graduate courses and pursuit of supervised self-directed study in a specialist field.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to Psychology.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development as recommended by the BPS and HCPC.

Salary

The salary for this position is £65,000 - £85,000 per annum, depending on experience.
