Senior Human Factors Engineer Role

We are recruiting a highly experienced Senior Human Factors Engineer to join our team at Advanced Resource Managers. Based in Devonport dockyard, this is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional to contribute to the maintenance of the Royal Navy's Fleet of surface ships and nuclear submarines.

About the Role:

  • This position involves assisting the Electrical Services Engineering Lead in delivering electrical services-related engineering work packages, ensuring timely completion within scope, quality, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Responsibilities include supervising, preparing, and checking designs, analyses, reports, drawings, specifications, and other documents related to Nuclear and Non-Nuclear plant, facilities, and equipment within company sites or external contracts.
  • The role also involves managing design work packages as an Engineer, supporting planning activities, and providing regular schedule reviews and progress reporting using Earned Value Management methodologies.
  • Effective use of Learn from Experience information is essential for developing and disseminating theoretical knowledge in relation to practical engineering, maintaining records of development, and substantiating skills achieved.
  • Supporting the development, construction, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of all Facilities ensures compliance with design intent and DNSP's for Nuclear related Works, as well as relevant Local and National Regulations and Legislation.

Requirements:

  • A first degree in Psychology plus MSc in Occupational Psychology, Applied Psychology, or Industrial Psychology, or an engineering degree with high psychological/ergonomics content (or equivalent) is required.
  • The individual should be a Registered Member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors or a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society with experience working in the Human Factors field within high-hazard industries.
  • Significant experience working within high hazard process industries (e.g., nuclear, defense, or petrochemical) is necessary.
  • A sound understanding of nuclear safety assessment principles and safety case production is essential.
  • Familiarity with both HF qualitative and quantitative HRA techniques (e.g., HEART, THERP, APJ) is required.

Benefits:

This is a contract role lasting 15 months, offering a competitive hourly rate of £70 p/h negotiable, with a hybrid arrangement requiring 2 days on-site Fortnightly.
