About the Role
University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our dynamic genomics team within the Cytogenetics Section. As a Healthcare Science Assistant Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality diagnostic services to patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Process patient samples and data on a range of pathological specimens under the supervision of senior technical staff and clinical scientists.
- Provide accurate, timely, and appropriate analytical data for testing in-house and by external laboratories.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including the evaluation of equipment, techniques, and protocols.
- Maintain stock levels in the section and ensure reagents and consumables are ordered in a timely manner.
Requirements
- A level or equivalent in at least two from Maths, English, and Science at level A to C.
- Previous laboratory experience and knowledge of genomic processes.
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
- Strong team working skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
