Job Summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a skilled Healthcare Science Assistant Practitioner to join our Genomics Laboratory team. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing patient samples and performing diagnostic tests on a range of pathological specimens.

Main Duties

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory work, with experience in genomic processes and a knowledge of hospital IT systems. They will be responsible for maintaining stock levels, ordering reagents and consumables, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic genomics team, contributing to patient-centred service provision through accurate and timely data analysis. The successful candidate will be based at the Wessex Genomics Laboratory Service in Salisbury, with future plans to relocate to a joint facility with WGLS (Southampton) in the Southampton area.

Person Specification

The Trust is looking for someone with a level A to C in at least two from Maths, English and Science, and previous laboratory experience. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, be able to follow standard operating procedures, and demonstrate strong team working skills.
