Role Overview:
As a Principal Engineer, you will be part of our specialist structures team responsible for engineering assessments of designs in support of build. You will work with a dual function team consisting of 14 people at various seniority levels to produce safety-critical equipment.

Salary and Benefits:
This role offers a competitive salary, estimated at £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a pension scheme, annual leave allowance, and share incentive plan, you will also have access to flexible working, an employee assistance programme, and employee discounts.

Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing complex steel structures utilising Eurocodes, British Standards, and BAE standards to support submarine build. This will involve utilising computer-based analytical techniques, including finite element analysis, CAD modelling, and engineering schematics. Additionally, you will support the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes, as well as production of concept drawings, layouts, and other technical outputs consistent with contractual requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need an engineering degree (BEng/MEng or equivalent) or HND with extensive years' experience. You should also have expertise in structural steel analysis, good understanding of mechanical engineering, and knowledge of lifting handling and LOLER. Previous knowledge in a production environment, particularly in a marine production environment, is highly desirable.
