Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Microbiologist Consultant to join our team at Whittington Health NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert medical microbiology services to our patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of infectious diseases.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality medical microbiology services to patients, including laboratory testing, consultation, and treatment.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective infection control strategies.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to medical microbiology.
  • Contribute to the education and training of medical students and junior doctors in medical microbiology.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in medical microbiology and apply this knowledge to improve patient care.
Person Specification
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) or CESR or European Community Rights
  • An appropriate higher Medical Microbiology qualification
  • Desirable criteria: interest in teaching, research, and safeguarding children and adults
