Position Overview
An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a full-time Senior Medical Microbiologist to join a vibrant team of Consultants at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH).
This role is diverse and offers the successful candidate the chance to engage in a wide range of infection management activities.
Key Responsibilities
The role encompasses a total of 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week, which includes on-call duties. The successful candidate will take a leading role in:
- Overseeing the clinical infection service for urology and thoracic surgery.
- Providing expertise in the diagnosis and management of infections, as well as antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention.
- Leading microbiology initiatives for recurrent urinary tract infections.
- Supporting the microbiology liaison for the Haematology service through:
- Participation in daily multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Contributing to national meetings focused on complex cases.
- Engaging in the general clinical microbiology service by leading daily case discussions.
- Contributing to the Trust's infection control and antimicrobial stewardship efforts, including:
- Leading Clostridiodes difficile ward rounds.
- Mapping antimicrobial stewardship data to inform future interventions.
