About the Role:

JT Recruit is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Area Supervisor to join our team on a temporary basis. As an Area Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our local authority's facilities, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage a team of staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to ensure that staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Monitor and enforce the Council's safe systems of work and risk assessments for all site operations.
  • Ensure that records for waste movements are accurate and appropriately filed.
  • Monitor and enforce the Council's Quality Management System for processes at the RHWSs.
  • Issue and monitor / record PPE and uniforms to staff.
  • Drive a Council 3.5 tonne box van as required.
  • Handle low-level complaints from customers face-to-face, by telephone, and by email.

Requirements:

  • Essential:
    • Good IT skills.
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
    • Experience of dealing with customers.
    • Experience of line managing multiple staff.
    • Experience of delivering training packages.
    • Valid UK driver's license for driving up to a 3.5 tonne vehicle, access to own vehicle, and insurance to cover business use.
    • HR experience.
  • Desirable:
    • Have a valid and relevant Certificate of Technical Competence with the appropriate evidence of continued competence.
    • Experience of driving a vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes.

What We Offer:

We offer a competitive rate of pay and the opportunity to work with a reputable organization. We will provide PPE and may require some uniform requirements, particularly the potential wearing of a Body Worn Camera (BWC). The BWC will only record and make footage available for download if activated by the holder.

Working Arrangements:

The role will require working across 7 days, with a working pattern to be agreed with the line manager based on 37 to 40 hours per week. Weekend work is mandatory, preferably 1 in 2, but a minimum of 1 in 3. Overtime is likely to be available.

Location:

The base location will be one of the Council's primary RHWSs (excluding Whetstone) that is closest to the candidate's home. This will form the standard commute mileage, and the candidate can claim mileage undertaken daily that is above their commute to and from that agreed primary RHWS.
