Teaching Assistant Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and professional teaching assistant to work with one of our partner schools in Birmingham. The ideal candidate will hold a teaching assistant qualification or have relevant experience as a teaching assistant within secondary schools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment for pupils.
  • Provide support for pupils who require 1:1 or small group focused interventions.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and follow their guidance to ensure effective learning outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with the class teacher and other members of staff within the wider school community.
  • Show empathy and understanding, and be a supportive presence for pupils.
  • Work closely with students with special educational needs to provide tailored support.

The ideal candidate will have had experience working as a teaching assistant or learning support assistant within schools previously, and will feel confident supporting pupils through their learning and development. Previous experience working with pupils with special educational needs and an understanding of the various learning needs within a classroom is beneficial to this role.
