Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Land Strategy Development: Play a key role in the land strategy for wind, solar, and storage projects in the prospecting phase, ensuring alignment with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Land Negotiation and Acquisition: Take a lead role in negotiating and delivering land rights for solar, storage, and wind projects, leveraging strong negotiation skills and experience of concluding land transactions.
  • Land Stakeholder Management: Manage ongoing relationships with land stakeholders, including landowners, tenant farmers, estate managers, and land agents, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

Main Accountabilities:

  1. Internal Land Negotiations: Manage internal land negotiations, ensuring timely and effective resolution of land-related issues.
  2. Client Representation: Represent EDP Energias de Portugal S.A. professionally, establishing and maintaining good relationships with landowners, tenant farmers, estate managers, land agents, and other stakeholders involved in land management.
  3. Partnership Development: Set up partnerships with external land service providers and participate in competitive tender processes, ensuring the best possible outcomes for the company.
  4. Farming and Forestry Economics: Familiarize yourself with and understand farming and forestry economics and regulations, ensuring compliance and effective land management.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement: Attend consultations and meetings with stakeholder groups, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  6. Resource Management: Liaise with and manage in-house and external grid, technical, legal, GIS, planning, and development resources, ensuring effective land management and project delivery.
  7. Technical Support: Provide technical support for project managers on land issues, define land strategies with project managers, anticipate land issues, and handle land issues in coordination with the legal and engineering departments.
  8. Project Closure: Support project managers in the ending phase of final leases, ensuring timely and effective closure of land-related issues.
  9. Procedure Implementation: Implement procedures related to storage, solar, and wind farm land issues, ensuring compliance and effective land management.

Required Profile:

  • Academic Level: Educated to degree level, ideally qualified in a suitable subject (rural surveying, estate management). Chartered Surveyor status is preferable.
  • Professional Experience: 3-5 years' experience in solar, storage, and/or wind project development from a land management perspective.
  • Specific Knowledge: Strong negotiation skills and experience of concluding land transactions, good understanding of forestry, farming, and commercial property sectors, sustainability, and land management, experience of the solar, storage, and/or wind development process, good client-facing skills, and ability to communicate complex and technical information and concepts to non-technical third parties.
  • Skills/Competences: A driving license is essential, previous land surveying experience, ideally in renewables, excellent negotiation, presenting, and communication skills, able to work independently as well as a key part of a team, excellent written English and report writing skills, and capable organization skills and a collaborative and skilled communicator.

Language: Fluent English.
