About the Role

As a dedicated Night Care Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the well-being and safety of our young residents at Millstream Lodge. This demanding yet rewarding position requires you to remain fully awake throughout the night, ensuring the home remains secure and our children are safe and accounted for.

Your excellent communication skills will enable you to effectively engage with children who may be struggling, providing comfort, reassurance, and guidance when needed.

Your Key ResponsibilitiesMonitoring and Supervision
  1. Conduct thorough checks to verify the presence of all children within the home, reporting any absences to senior staff promptly.
  2. Ensure the home's security systems are functioning correctly and alert senior staff to any potential breaches.
Log-keeping and Reporting
  1. Accurately maintain a nightly log, detailing any incidents or notable events, and submit it to senior staff before your shift ends.
  2. Contribute to comprehensive assessments, reports, and reviews related to individual children or groups, showcasing your analytical skills and attention to detail.
Support and Care
  1. Collaborate with daytime staff to facilitate smooth bedtime routines, promoting a peaceful environment for our young residents.
  2. Assist in preparing children for mornings, ensuring they're clean, dressed, and ready for the day ahead.
  3. Provide immediate support to children experiencing distress or discomfort, escalating concerns to the Sleep In team as necessary.
  4. Develop positive, professional relationships with children, setting a good example through your own behaviour.
  5. Participate in safeguarding efforts, upholding the home's Child Protection Policy and promoting a culture of openness and transparency.
  6. Adhere to the home's Health and Safety Policy, prioritizing the well-being and safety of our children.
  7. Undertake various domestic tasks, such as laundry and cleaning, as required.
