Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Orthopaedic Practitioner/Plaster Technician to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a key member of our clinical team, you will provide a comprehensive orthopaedic technical service to the Surgical and Anaesthetic Directorate, working closely with orthopaedic surgeons and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide a complete orthopaedic technical service to the Surgical and Anaesthetic Directorate, including plastering, casting, and other orthopaedic procedures.
  • Work effectively as a member of the clinic nursing team to ensure the provision of the highest standard of patient and customer care.
  • Assist in managing, maintaining, and supporting all clinics that run in the Orthopaedic Outpatient Clinic (Fracture Clinic), including planning staffing around clinic templates to ensure the smooth running of the clinics and plaster service for adult and children.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Trust standards and guidelines.
  • Participate in the training and education of junior staff members, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Person Specification
  • BOA (British Orthopaedic Association) registration
  • RCN (Royal College of Nursing) membership
  • AOT (Association of Orthopaedic Technicians) certification
  • Ponsetti Course completion
  • Experience of working with children aged 0-16 years
  • Ponsetti experience
  • 2 years post-qualification experience in an outpatient orthopaedic setting
