About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our Adult Eating Disorders (AED) Step Care team at Oxford Health NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, person-centered care to patients with eating disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the AED Step Care team in delivering holistic care to patients in a friendly, respectful, and professional manner.
  • Contribute to and interpret care plans accurately and consistently.
  • Carry out delegated care tasks, including supported meals and skills sessions.
  • Assess and promote good physical health and raise any concerns with the Team.
  • Observe and report any changes in patients' conditions to the key Nurse and the team.
  • Communicate with relatives and carers in a friendly, helpful, and respectful manner.
  • Liaise with other relevant individuals involved with the patient, as appropriate.
  • Write accurate records of care activities and communications with patients, relatives, and carers in the patient's notes.
  • Support patients with individual needs and choices.
  • Give formal verbal and/or written hand-over of patient care.
  • Supply all clinical information within the required timescales on the electronic system RiO.
  • Assist the team to identify and manage areas of risk in the home environment to safeguard health and safety for patients and their families.
  • Identify when patients are deteriorating and escalate concerns to avert emergencies.
  • Undertake administrative duties as delegated by Senior Management Team.
Requirements
  • Basic understanding of eating disorders and how they are treated.
  • Knowledge of mental health disorders.
  • Able to work remotely and have good IT skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Teams.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Previous experience working in a hospital or Mental Health environment.
  • Experience of therapy intervention.
  • Experience of working in Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs).
Personal Qualities
  • Able to prioritize own work with the aid of supervision.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is flexible and reliable.
  • Recognize own abilities and be willing to engage in reflective practice as a means of learning and developing one's own practice.
