Workshop Operations Manager - Glasgow West

Competitive salary p.a. + company bonus + company van

Monday to Friday

0700hrs to 1515hrs (some flexibility required)

In a fast-paced and ever-evolving industry, we're looking for a skilled Workshop Operations Manager to play a crucial role at our Glasgow West depot. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Managing Work In Progress (WIP), overseeing the workshop team, and regularly managing customer expectations
  2. Proactively managing the GVS process from 'planning, through On Arrival' to 'Invoice / Claim' closure
  3. Ensuring service and repair work is completed to time and quality standards and all invoice / claim documents are complete and accurate
  4. Managing customer expectations, job profitability, and workshop productivity targets will be a daily focus to ensure workshop profitability is optimised
  5. Carrying out regular process reviews with your Dealerpoint Manager to identify operational issues/discrepancies and ensuring appropriate follow-up actions are taken to rectify
  6. Managing the performance of the service department to ensure KPI targets are achieved
  7. Holding daily production meetings to plan workload and resources, review identified issues from previous shifts, and identify appropriate solutions consistent with standard OTI process requirements
  8. Anticipating production problems based on forward planning/resources and providing active support to handle workload
  9. Actively participating in the Dealerpoint's Commercial Crew CRM meetings following the CRM process
  10. Assisting the Dealerpoint Manager in the production of the annual business plan

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 in heavy vehicle or equivalent
  • Previous experience of supervising in a commercial vehicle workshop
  • Knowledge of VOSA requirements, MOT Testers manual, Warranty and Contract scope and procedures, workshop KPIs, and understanding of Operators License Laws and Regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work daily with spreadsheets and in-house IT systems to manage productive man hours and unsold man hours
  • An organised and methodical approach to ensure all daily tasks are completed
  • The ability to modify your approach in specific circumstances to ensure a positive outcome and to understand and analyse operational issues and propose appropriate solutions
