Radiology Specialist

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Orthoptist to lead our Neuro-Ophthalmology service in Buckinghamshire. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assessing and treating patients with complex medical conditions, including those with neurological and ophthalmic disorders.
Main Responsibilities- Assess and diagnose patients with a range of orthoptic conditions, including those with neurological and ophthalmic disorders.
- Develop and implement treatment plans and care pathways for patients of all ages, using advanced clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice.
- Lead and develop the Neuro-Ophthalmology service, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Provide clinical supervision and guidance to junior members of staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
- Contribute to the development of clinical policies and procedures, ensuring they are aligned with best practice and regulatory requirements.
- DBO, BSc (hons) Orthoptics, or BMed Sci Orthoptics qualification.
- Registration with the Health Professions Council.
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
- BIOS accredited postgraduate training in VPD.
- Membership of Neuro-Ophthalmology CAG and demonstration of participation.
- Undergraduate orthoptic clinical experience and excellent years of post-graduation experience in all aspects of clinical Orthoptics.
- Assessment, treatment, and diagnosis of patients with IIH.
- Experience of clinical teaching and audit.
- Ability to manage a highly complex workload and work unsupervised.
- Research experience.
- Evidence of active participation in departmental teaching programs.
- Negotiating and persuasive skills required for BIOS Representative.
- Ability to assess, diagnose, and treat a full range of orthoptic cases.
- Ability to manage and take responsibility for own workload and provide clinical supervision to junior members of staff.
- Ability to conduct visual fields using Humphrey Field analyzer.
- Extensive knowledge of conditions post-stroke.
- Excellent communication skills, including verbal and non-verbal techniques.
- Ability to write complex clinical reports.
- Normal visual acuity with both eyes open with glasses or contact lenses.
- Good physical dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
