Radiology Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Orthoptist to lead our Neuro-Ophthalmology service in Buckinghamshire. As a highly respected professional in the field, you will be responsible for assessing patients, developing treatment plans, and providing clinical supervision to junior staff members.
Main Duties
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing patients with complex medical problems, including those with neurological and medical conditions
- Developing and implementing individual treatment plans and care pathways for patients of all ages
- Providing clinical supervision to junior staff members and contributing to the development of the service
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery

Person Specification
The ideal candidate will possess:
- DBO, BSc (hons) Orthoptics, or BMed Sci Orthoptics qualification
- Registration with the Health Professions Council
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development
- BIOS accredited postgraduate training in VPD
- Membership of Neuro-Ophthalmology CAG and participation in departmental teaching programmes
Essential Criteria
The successful candidate will have:
- Undergraduate orthoptic clinical experience and excellent years of post-graduation experience in all aspects of clinical Orthoptics
- Assessment, treatment, and diagnosis of patients with IIH
- Experience of clinical teaching and audit
- Ability to manage and take responsibility for own workload and provide clinical supervision to junior members of staff
Desirable Criteria
The ideal candidate will also possess:
- Research experience
- Negotiating and persuasive skills required for BIOS Representative
Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
The successful candidate will have:
- Ability to assess, diagnose, and treat full range of Orthoptic cases
- Ability to manage and take responsibility for own workload and provide clinical supervision to junior members of staff
- Ability to conduct visual fields using Humphrey Field analyser
- Extensive knowledge of conditions post stroke
- Excellent communication skills, including verbal and non-verbal techniques
Special Circumstances
The ideal candidate will also have:
- Normal visual acuity with both eyes open with glasses or contact lenses
- Good physical dexterity and hand-eye coordination
