About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Manager to join our team at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Procurement and Materials Management Department, you will play a crucial role in supporting the leadership and development of our team, as well as taking responsibility for the procurement and management of contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Contracts Managers in projects or service redesign
  • Take the lead for a delegated portfolio of contracts, managing their own projects as directed
  • Provide procurement advice and guidance to key stakeholders regarding detailed contract management and cost reduction strategies
  • Contribute to the implementation of the procurement strategy for the Trust
  • Instigate and lead project groups and coordination of procurement project activities between departments, divisions, and Trusts
  • Manage multiple procurement projects simultaneously
  • Analyse data, generate opportunities, deliver, and manage projects to influence, drive change, and efficiencies throughout client organisations
  • Work with stakeholders across the Trust at all levels to facilitate and manage projects for client organisations, ensuring compliance with relevant government legislation and Trust Standing Financial Instructions and Trust Standing Orders
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and negotiation
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Experience working with electronic purchasing and supply chain management systems
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Planning and organisation skills
  • Confident and out-going personality and able to deal with a variety of individuals at various levels
  • Strong self-motivation, communication, and relationship skills and ability to deliver consistent results on time and to required quality, whilst under time pressure
  • Ability to work as part of a team and develop and maintain very good working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to handle difficult and conflicting situations
  • Positive and proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Understanding and ability to apply government procurement procedures
