We are looking for an Autonomous Vehicle Engineer to join our Centre for AI for Assistive Autonomy at The University of Edinburgh.

About the Role

This is a fixed-term contract post for 2 years, working full-time (35 hours per week). As the lead engineer in autonomous vehicles, you will be responsible for anchoring laboratory activities and focusing on human-centred settings, including shared autonomy and autonomous operation in crowded urban environments.

You will be part of a mission-driven research centre established using a UKRI Turing AI World Leading Researcher Fellowship awarded to Prof Subramanian Ramamoorthy. Our team benefits from parallel work of a foundations team, investigating generative modelling of human behaviour to enable person-centred and teachable autonomous systems.

As an expert in AI and robotics, you will contribute to the development of new assets, including experimental robotic systems and demonstrators, making use of data and model assets created by other Centre researchers.

The salary for this role is estimated to be around £42,500 per annum, based on location and industry standards.

Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • PhD (or near completion) in AI and/or robotics with a focus on autonomous vehicles applications
  • Excellent proven experience of developing field robotics systems
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, meet deadlines, and report project progress
