Gloucestershire County Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Residential Care Specialist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our passionate and dynamic team to deliver outstanding residential care services to children and young people.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing ongoing training programs for residential staff, including child-centered and trauma-informed approaches. They will work closely with management teams to ensure that all areas for development are met, and will act as a conduit for the commissioning of essential training. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in residential care, with experience of working at a supervisory level and a proven ability to promote innovation and evidence-informed practice.

About You

We are looking for someone with a professional social work qualification, or similar from a statutory background, and/or a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare. The successful candidate will also need to be able to satisfactorily pass DBS requirements. A practice educator award is desirable but not essential for social work qualified applicants.

As a Residential Care Specialist with Gloucestershire County Council, you will have access to a range of benefits, including flexible and agile working, 25.5 days annual leave rising to 30.5 days after 5 years' continuous service, and the option to purchase 10 days of additional leave per year.
