Job Overview:

PK Education is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant - Primary to join our team. As a specialist in supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), you will provide tailored support and guidance to young learners within our primary resource provision.

You will work closely with permanent staff, SEND coordinators, and external professionals to create an inclusive and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting children with SEND through one-on-one and small group sessions, ensuring their individual needs are met.
  • Collaborating with teaching staff to develop and implement personalized learning plans and interventions that support the academic, social, and emotional development of children with SEND.
  • Implementing sensory integration techniques, communication strategies, and behaviour management techniques to support children with diverse needs.
  • Building strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to supporting children with SEND both in school and at home.
  • Providing compassionate personal care to pupils, for example, nappy changing and assistance with toileting.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEND, particularly with primary aged students.
  • A thorough understanding of primary curriculum frameworks and strategies for supporting children with diverse learning needs.
  • Empathy, patience, and a positive attitude towards supporting the unique abilities and challenges of children with SEND.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in supporting children with SEND, such as a Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools (SEND pathway), is desirable but not essential.
