Behavioural Support Specialist

About the Role:
GSL Education is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join a dynamic team at a client school in Grantham. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with behavioural challenges, working closely with teachers and other staff members to implement strategies that promote positive behaviour and social development.
Responsibilities:
- Support students with behavioural needs, helping them to stay focused and engaged in their learning.
- Assist the class teacher in managing classroom behaviour and implementing behaviour management strategies.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who require additional help.
- Monitor and report on student behaviour, progress, and development.
- Help to create a safe and supportive environment that encourages positive behaviour.
- Work closely with other professionals, such as SENCOs, to support students' individual needs.
- Promote social skills development and encourage positive peer relationships.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Behaviour Support Assistant or in a similar role is desirable.
- A good understanding of behaviour management strategies and approaches.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and on your initiative.
- A proactive and flexible approach to supporting students.
- Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
