Midway Surgery is a friendly and busy GP Surgery located in St Albans, Herts. We are looking for a highly skilled and organized Medical Receptionist to join our highly valued team.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a Medical Receptionist who is efficient, friendly, and able to work in a busy environment. The successful candidate will provide a positive experience for our patients and be the main contact for the Practice.
Main Responsibilities- Provide a friendly, efficient, and professional front-line service to patients, visitors, and the primary health care team.
- Manage various patient needs, including receiving, assisting, and directing patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional.
- Ensure all communications are dealt with effectively and efficiently, including telephone calls, text messages, letters, prescription requests, faxes, and any other means of communication.
- Utilize the Practice computer system, including EMIS, Electronic Prescribing Service, electronic mail, and intranet, to support patient care and communication.
- Deal with general enquiries, explain procedures, and make new and follow-up appointments in a polite and helpful manner.
- Work effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patients' needs.
- Good secondary education
- Excellent communication skills
- Good telephone manner
- Computer literate - email, internet, and Microsoft Word
- Excellent customer care approachable and caring
- Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team
- Calm and able to deal with difficult situations
- Use own initiative
- Keen learner
- Able to work under pressure

- Medical Receptionist training
- Customer Care training
- Experience in General Practice or other medical environment
- Experience in customer care
- Other languages
- Experience of using the EMIS web clinical system
As a Medical Receptionist at Midway Surgery, you will be working in a busy Practice that puts a high value on providing excellent patient care. You will be part of a team that works hard to genuinely care for our patients and nurture the care they show us.
We support one another and value the contribution that each member of staff makes. Our Practice catchment area predominantly covers Chiswell Green, Park Street, and Bricket Wood in St Albans.
