About the Role
The Actuarial Team at Broadstone provides a comprehensive range of actuarial and defined benefits pension consultancy services to pension scheme trustees, scheme sponsors, and other third parties. The team also offers non-pensions actuarial analysis and advice to other parts of the firm. As a Senior Actuarial Consultant, you will work collaboratively with colleagues in Investment Management, Broadstone, and other third parties to deliver high-quality services.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with Investment Management colleagues, Broadstone colleagues, external third-party administrators, and clients to ensure seamless communication and service delivery.
- Attend external meetings with senior colleagues to represent Broadstone and provide expert advice.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to deliver exceptional service and support.
- Review and investigate data preparation work carried out by junior colleagues to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Carry out and review technical calculations relating to individual members of pension schemes, including early/late retirement quotations, trivial commutations, and transfer values.
- Conduct and review technical calculations relating to pension schemes, including actuarial valuations, preparation of accounting disclosures under FRS 102, IAS 19R, and either ASC 715 or US GAAP.
- Suggest improvements to current working practices to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
- Hold passes in several actuarial exams, with a strong aptitude to continue progress towards part qualification as FIA or FFA.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of actuarial valuations, accounting disclosures under FRS 102, IAS 19R, and either ASC 715 or US GAAP.
- Demonstrate strong numeracy and literacy skills, with the ability to absorb and apply technical information effectively.
- Exhibit excellent team-working and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with a strong understanding of computer systems and technology.
