About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Infrastructure Project Manager to join our team at the Cabinet Office. This is an exciting opportunity to lead complex projects and programmes, driving delivery excellence and adding value to the government's portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • To lead the delivery challenge and support across a significant part of the Government’s portfolio, working with departments and project types
  • To lead stakeholders to build and maintain the assurance and approvals framework for your area of responsibility, engaging with Cabinet Office and HM Treasury to align perspectives and controls in the interests of successful delivery; representing IPA on HM Treasury Approval Panels
  • To take shared leadership for meeting key performance indicators and assisting departments to deliver their Spending Review commitments
  • To build and cultivate strong, trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, including Director Generals’, Senior Responsible Owners, and Programme Directors
  • To create strong networks at the heart of government, including other functions and with HM Treasury
  • To be a source of knowledge and expertise not only on project delivery but on your programmes, briefing and advising at the most senior level on programme health and deliverability
  • To lead on elements of the strategic engagement between IPA and wider government

About You

  • You will have strong leadership maturity and excellent advisory skills, capable of promoting and delivering continuous individual and team development to enhance people capability
  • Significant project delivery experience, including a robust understanding of the end-to-end project life cycle and the risks that need to be managed in major projects
  • Able to think strategically in government, working with senior leaders to maintain oversight and provide challenge and support to project delivery and portfolio management
  • Very strong stakeholder engagement skills, confident in influencing and negotiating with both peers and very senior leaders within Defence and across government
  • A strong track record in building good working relationships across diverse business areas and functions

  • A minimum of 25 days of paid annual leave, increasing by one day per year up to a maximum of 30
