The Role

The Practice Education Facilitator plays a pivotal role in shaping the quality of the clinical learning environment. This position involves providing educational input, support, and development activities for mentors, preceptors, practice supervisors, and students within HNC, pre-registration, and post-registration education programmes. The goal is to enhance the quality of the practice learning experience and contribute positively to the future nursing and midwifery workforce.

  • Maximise the number of student nurses and midwives who can be supported within clinical practice areas
  • Enhance and support the role of the mentor/preceptor/practice supervisor/practice assessor
  • Ensure that the student experience is of the highest quality and enables the greatest benefit from the individual clinical learning experience
  • Ensure support and supervision for staff engaging in Continuing Professional Development/Educational programmes which ultimately lead to practice development and improved services for patients & clients

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a Registered Nurse/Midwife with valid NMC registration, educated to/working towards/operating at degree level. The ideal candidate will possess postgraduate expertise within a speciality/area of practice, demonstrating the required breadth of knowledge to lead safely, effectively, and efficiently.

The successful candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice, as well as specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies, and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice.

Leadership skills are essential, enabling the day-to-day management of service delivery. The post holder will also possess excellent team working/leadership skills, with the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative.

Effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as effective time management skills and working knowledge of basic information technology.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

We're looking for candidates who have completed a recognised mentorship preparation programme, have evidence of leadership development, and are working towards a higher degree. Post-registration experience within a clinical environment, inclusive of educational supervision experience, is also desirable.

The ideal candidate will provide practical examples of implementing evidence-based care and demonstrate awareness of recent changes in nursing/midwifery education. Participation in management or promotion of the learning environment, audit, research, and additional study in nurse/midwife education are also highly valued.

Contract Type and Working Pattern

This is a part-time position, with 22.2 hours per week. The working pattern will be Monday to Friday.
