The Role

The Practice Education Facilitator is a key role in enhancing the quality of the clinical learning environment. This position provides support, educational input, and development activities for mentors, preceptors, practice supervisors, and assessors within HNC, pre-registration, and post-registration education programmes.

The role aims to improve the quality of the practice learning experience and contribute positively to the future nursing and midwifery workforce. By enhancing the learning environment, the education and training needs of healthcare assistants and professional groups can be addressed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maximise the number of student nurses and midwives supported in clinical practice areas
  • Enhance and support the role of mentors, preceptors, practice supervisors, and assessors
  • Ensure the student experience is of the highest quality, enabling the greatest benefit from the individual clinical learning experience
  • Provide support and supervision for staff engaging in Continuing Professional Development and Educational programmes, leading to practice development and improved services for patients and clients

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse or Midwife with valid NMC registration
  • Education to degree level or working towards/operating at degree level
  • Postgraduate expertise in a speciality or area of practice, demonstrating the required breadth of knowledge to lead safely, effectively, and efficiently
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality or area of practice
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies, and procedures associated with the speciality or area of practice
  • Leadership skills to enable day-to-day management of service delivery
  • Further education and evidence of continuous professional development in the area of speciality, including study days, courses, postgraduate qualifications, and mentorship experience
