Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Ferndown, Dorset

  • Salary: £14.28 per hour (£28,500 - £35,000 per annum).
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, Term Time only.
  • Job Type: Permanent, Full Time.

Job Summary:

This role involves supporting teaching staff in delivering a broad and balanced curriculum to children with special educational needs.

  • Safeguarding: Ensure the welfare and safety of pupils according to school policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT guidelines.
  • Teaching Support: Assist in delivering lessons and providing individualised support to pupils as needed.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain positive relationships with pupils to promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Assist teachers in gathering and recording evidence of pupils' attainment and progress, and provide feedback to pupils.

Essential Criteria:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or higher
  • GCSEs at grade C (or 4 in the new GCSE system) or above in English and Maths
  • Knowledge and experience working with SEN, SLD/PMLD, ADHD, and ASD pupils
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures
  • Experience managing a range of behaviours, including those that challenge
  • Experience within an educational setting is advantageous
  • Experience working in a multicultural, inclusive environment.
