The Group Leader is responsible for the first line management and leadership of a team of System Specialists and Technicians, ensuring the application of all Human Resources policies and Getlink Group principles.
The principal purpose is to ensure the team's activities are compliant with health, safety, and environmental standards, legislation, and best practice, and more generally Getlink/Eurotunnel's policies, engineering standards, risk assessments, and principles.
The Group Leader works in coordination with the Technical Lead to deploy the team to support asset management, data collection, and analysis, and team expertise in response to technical questions from Project Managers.
Key responsibilities include first line management of the team, ensuring all activities are compliant with health, safety, and environmental standards, legislation, and best practice, and more generally Getlink/Eurotunnel's policies, engineering standards, risk assessments, and principles.
The Group Leader is accountable for ensuring team competence management is delivered in accordance with Eurotunnel's CMS, welfare, behaviour, safety, and standards.
They apply and promote change management, new departmental strategies, and objectives in accordance with divisional and company objectives, maintaining an efficient, productive, lean, and agile team.
The Group Leader works alongside the Technical Lead to manage, develop, promote, and support the department's assets to maximise life expectancy and meet customer expectation and legislative requirements.
They lead the team to ensure that the department's assets are safety, fit for purpose, available, and reliable.
The Group Leader supports the departmental Manager in OPEX management and the Manager/Technical Lead in CAPEX budget forecasts, ensuring budget allocations are respected and accurate.
They are responsible for team delivery of Infrastructure maintenance obligations, provision of support to Infrastructure Projects, team planning, competence management, quality, and standards control within the team.
The Group Leader is responsible for the planning, competency management, standards, and quality control of the team, including deploying the team to support Infrastructure maintenance obligations and projects.
At the request of the Department Manager, they intervene or support any area of the business as required, including representing the department manager during absence, project consultancy, incident/crisis management, accident/incident investigation, and support of the Human Resources Team conducting employee investigations.
The ideal candidate holds a Degree, HNC Level Engineering qualification, ideally within the field of activity of the department managed.
A health and Safety (H&S) qualification, NEBOSH/IOSH, would be an advantage.
Qualification in NVQ A1 Assessor and knowledge of risk assessments are also desirable.
Knowledge and experience in Safety/crisis/incident management, Change Management, accident investigation, and root cause analysis are essential.
Very good knowledge of internal and external regulations/standards in the Health & Safety, Quality, and Environment fields is required.
A valid Driving Licence and Passport are essential.
The ability to communicate in French and/or another European language would be an advantage.
