About the Role

As an Alcohol Care Team Nurse, you will play a vital role in assessing patients who misuse alcohol and advising Trust staff on the care and management of acute alcohol-related issues and care plans.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients who misuse alcohol and develop individualized care plans to meet their unique needs.
  • Collaborate with Trust staff to provide effective care and management of acute alcohol-related issues.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of education programs for Trust staff in the specialty of alcohol misuse.
  • Support a caseload of individual patients who are not engaging in community services, resulting in hospital admission and frequent attendance at Trust services.
  • Develop strong professional relationships with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery.

Person Specification:

  • Essential Qualifications:
    • RMN or RGN at degree level (or equivalent) with Current NMC Registration
  • Desirable Qualifications:
    • Management studies qualification or equivalent
    • Alcohol studies qualification
  • Essential Experience:
    • Awareness of the need for a multi-agency approach to care planning for patients who abuse alcohol
  • Desirable Experience:
    • Experience of working in the substance and alcohol use sector
    • Experience in multi-agency working and training
  • Essential Knowledge:
    • Clinical knowledge of substance use and alcohol withdrawal
  • Desirable Knowledge:
    • Evidence of ongoing training and practices in the field of substance use and public health prevention
  • Essential Skills:
    • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Desirable Skills:
    • Ability to work in partnership with other agencies
