Role Overview:
As an Ophthalmic Care Assistant with ACES, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and support. With a focus on community-based eye care services, you will work closely with expert consultant ophthalmologists to enhance patient outcomes.

Job Description:
Your primary responsibilities will include pre-operative testing, instructing patients on pre- and post-procedure eye care, updating medical records, and making follow-up appointments. You will also coordinate patient flow on the day of consent and surgery appointments to minimize waiting times.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the surgeon during consent appointments and treatments – acting as scrub assistant, taking notes for the surgeon.
  • Undertake the role of HCA in IOL theatre to assist the surgical team and patients during surgery.
  • Report untoward incidents – actively contributing to patient safety issues and quality and risk management.

Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will need previous experience in an optical or healthcare environment, exceptional communication and presentation skills, and the ability to absorb and convey highly technical information.
