Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Sleep Disorder Specialist to join our team at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. As a key member of our Respiratory Service, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to patients suffering from sleep disorders.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a healthcare setting and possess excellent communication skills. You will work closely with our sleep specialists to support adults suffering from potential sleep disorders, performing clinical observations and managing equipment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting sleep diagnostics and CPAP clinics at both Lister and Hertford County Hospitals
  • Managing all equipment involved in the clinics, ensuring excellent infection control procedures
  • Communicating effectively with patients and healthcare professionals

Main Duties of the Job

As a Sleep Disorder Specialist, you will work to clear guidelines in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for sleep and CPAP patients. You will be responsible for:

  • Setting up new patients with domiciliary sleep studies, downloading data, and managing equipment
  • Reviewing adult outpatients suffering from obstructive sleep apnea who currently use CPAP, assessing and monitoring progress, and evaluating interventions
  • Maintaining and updating the sleep database in conjunction with other members of the team
