Job Title: Mechanic and Equipment Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Mechanic and Equipment Engineer to join our dedicated workshop team at RECRUITMENTiQ, a respected metal recycling business with a reputation for excellence.

This pivotal role involves maintaining, servicing, and repairing our fleet of heavy goods vehicles and specialized plant equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out inspections, servicing, and repairs on HGVs, company vehicles, and various plant machinery.
  • Diagnose and rectify electrical and mechanical faults across the fleet.
  • Assist with MOT preparation and inspections as needed.
  • Adhere to planned work schedules and liaise with the transport administration function.
  • Work independently on routine servicing and site breakdowns.
  • Meet deadlines and work efficiently to maintain operational requirements.
  • Ensure full compliance with all health and safety policies.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Qualified Mechanic with experience in a workshop environment.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised when required.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • HGV licence.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Understanding of vehicle inspection standards and maintenance requirements.
  • Initiative and flexible approach to supporting the wider workshop function.
