Job Title: General Teaching Assistant (Year 2) - Temporary Role

Teaching Personnel is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic General Teaching Assistant to join the Year 2 team at one of our schools. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in young learners' lives, with the potential for the role to extend.

About the Role:

  • Support the daily teaching of phonics to Year 2 students
  • Work closely with the class teacher to create a positive, stimulating learning environment
  • Assist in managing classroom behaviour and promoting a safe, inclusive atmosphere
  • Take initiative in supporting the teacher with lesson preparation and classroom activities
  • Demonstrate reliability and a strong commitment to daily attendance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in small groups and on a one-to-one basis, fostering their development in key areas like literacy and numeracy
  • Collaborate with the class teacher to create a positive, stimulating learning environment
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and promote a safe, inclusive atmosphere
  • Take initiative in supporting the teacher with lesson preparation and classroom activities

What We're Looking For:

  • Prior experience working with young children in a classroom setting as General Teaching Assistant (experience in Year 2 and teaching phonics is highly desirable)
  • A proactive, positive attitude with a genuine passion for supporting children's learning
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents
