Professional Lead for Advancing Practice Development

The post holder will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of advancing practice across the organisation, incorporating enhanced, advanced and consultant levels of practice. This will involve working closely with the senior team to develop and lead a multi-professional, organisational level advancing practice strategy.
The post holder will also be responsible for the development and leadership of the Trust Physician Associate roles, ensuring that appropriate frameworks for guidance, associate governance arrangements, clinical and management supervision, competency assessment and continuing education are in place across the organisation.
The post holder will support the senior team in developing, leading and implementing a strategy for advancing practice, providing expert advice, consultancy, education and clinical expertise. They will also lead the Faculty of Advancing Practice, maintaining and developing the strategic direction, working effectively with the senior clinical leadership team to proactively influence regional and national priorities related to Advanced Clinical Practice.
Main Duties of the Job- To be the lead Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) in the trust, linking locally, regionally and nationally where required.
- Lead on the strategic planning for Advancing Practice roles within the Trust, identifying interdependencies across projects, functions and teams including the potential impacts on the wider organisation.
- Work effectively with the Director of Nursing and Director of Education to ensure the strategic direction of the work is appropriate and Advancing Practice is promoted and supported effectively within the organisation.
- Lead on the development of a Trust Framework for Advancing Practice and update appropriately.
- Provide expert advice and leadership relating to Advancing Practice in the formulation of strategic and operational plans and policies, ensuring the workforce continues to develop and work effectively to meet the needs of the patients and families.
- To provide expert leadership, direction and guidance on clinical practice and development for practitioners by establishing clinical and educational supervision and associated governance arrangements.
- In partnership with the Head of Nursing for Nursing Workforce provide expert advice and support on service review and development.
- Attend relevant local, regional and national meetings relating to professional practice to build relationships and share and implement best practice.
- Lead and coordinate audit, research and development initiatives relating to Advancing Practice roles ensuring integration across the Directorates.
- Interpret national policy and translate into operational and professional Advancing Practice context.
- Facilitate standardisation of advancing practice roles across the organisation.
- Provide professional advice and a point of contact for qualified and training ACPs.
- Present highly complex information about Advancing Practice, initiatives and services to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Provide a source of connection for education providers and provide assessment and quality assurance of educational provision.
- Use highly developed specialist knowledge to support a range of advanced practice roles across the Trust.
- Provide strategic leadership, expertise and guidance to the clinical Directorates in developing service delivery plans for their workforce.
- Lead on the development of policies and guidelines relating to advancing practice across the Trust.
- Develop constructive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the Faculty of Advanced Practice and local HEI providers.
- Provide frameworks for Advancing Practice professionals across the Trust to facilitate meeting any requirements established by the NHS Workforce Training and Education (NHSE WT&E) Academy of Advanced Practice.
- In partnership with the Heads of Education for Advancing Practice, identify and support development of opportunities for multidisciplinary education, training and development.
- Provide strategic leadership on research initiatives relating to Advancing Practice across the Trust.
- Provide strategic oversight for the delivery of the educational requirements for Advancing Practice professionals across the Trust.
- Work with NHS WT&E and Clinical Leads to bid for funding to support education for Advancing Practice professionals.
- Provide expert knowledge and leadership to service review evaluation of Advancing Practice roles in relation to local and national benchmarks.
