Company OverviewThe Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) is a leading organization in the field of animal and plant health. Our workgroup on Vector-Borne Diseases is dedicated to understanding and mitigating the risks associated with arthropod-borne pathogens.
Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced biologist to join our team as a Vector-Borne Disease Specialist. The successful candidate will have a strong background in animal and zoonotic pathogens, as well as experience in laboratory-based analysis and molecular techniques.
This role involves managing the delivery of a project on tick-borne disease, combining field survey data with laboratory analysis. You will work closely with our customer-facing departments and external partners, such as the UK Health Security Agency and academic institutions.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic research environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications- PhD in a relevant biological science
- Experience in laboratory-based analysis and molecular techniques
- Strong understanding of animal and zoonotic pathogens
- Excellent communication and project management skills
