We are seeking a highly skilled biologist to join our Vector-Borne Diseases workgroup at the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) in the UK. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the delivery of a project on tick-borne disease.

The role involves combining field survey data for tick abundance with laboratory-based analysis of tick submissions. This will require liaison with customer-facing departments and external bodies such as the UK Health Security Agency and the academic sector.

Key responsibilities include working in SAPO4/ACDP3 containment laboratories, contributing to the maintenance of the APHA insectary facilities, and collaborating as part of an active research team on diverse projects linked to vector-borne disease transmission.

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of animal and zoonotic pathogens, as well as a broad understanding of molecular techniques, including qPCR, genomic sequencing, and bioinformatic analysis.
