Job Summary:
Biffa Waste Services is seeking an experienced Depot Manager to lead and optimize the operations at our depot and transfer station. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and operator licenses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Excellence: Drive continuous improvement in operational productivity and service quality.
- Team Leadership: Manage and develop a team of approximately 40 staff members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Customer Focus: Collaborate with customers to deliver exceptional service and maintain strong relationships.
- Financial Management: Oversee the depot's profit and loss budget, ensuring consistent year-on-year growth.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and operator licenses.
- Performance Monitoring: Set clear objectives, monitor performance, and take corrective action as needed to achieve targets.
- Strategic Direction: Influence key decisions and help define the strategic direction of the depot.
Requirements:
- Experience: Proven track record as an Operations/Depot/General Manager or in a similar high-responsibility role within services or logistics.
- CPC Qualification: Essential for managing compliance and operational standards.
- COTC Qualification: Desirable but not essential.
- Commercial Acumen: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment.
- Leadership: Experience in people management and health & safety within a unionized, multi-shift environment.
- Legislative Knowledge: Up-to-date understanding of current and upcoming environmental and health & safety regulations.
- Local Insight: Familiarity with the local area for effective operations.
- KPI Focused: Demonstrated ability to meet clearly defined KPIs.
- Continuous Improvement: Proven track record of driving continuous improvement in an operational setting.
- Strong Communication: Ability to communicate persuasively, plan meticulously, and collaborate effectively.
