Nurse Specialist Children in Care
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated nurse with good knowledge and understanding of the management of childhood diabetes and who is committed to working with and supporting children, young people and their families.
This role offers a rewarding and flexible opportunity to work with one of the largest services for children and young people with diabetes in the South East Coast and London network.
The successful candidate will provide leadership and direct line-management for a small team of staff supporting them to care for a caseload of children and young people.
Key responsibilities include facilitating teamwork across the multidisciplinary team to deliver a high standard diabetes service to children, adolescents, families and carers.
The role also involves participating in a regular review of the responsibilities of the multidisciplinary team as a service provider, examining the structure and processes against all criteria identified in the Best Practice Tariff, National Paediatric Diabetes Audit and Peer review.
The candidate will work cross-site within East Kent and will participate pro-rata in the Out of Hours telephone on-call service for children, young people and their families ensuring they have access to specialist diabetes advice.
The role may entail time within the hospital setting, the home and the community, enhancing established links with schools and other community groups and forging new ones.
About usWe are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people.
Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called 'We care'. We're looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.
Please note that if you require a Certificate of Sponsorship to work in the UK you must declare this on your application form, even if you currently have a certificate of sponsorship or a work permit for another role and are already working in the country.
