Principal Energy Specialist

Environmental Resources Management (ERM) is seeking an experienced Principal Energy Specialist with expertise in low carbon fuels and chemicals to join our Sustainable Energy Solutions team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in energy sustainability, with at least 8 years of experience in managing complex projects and leading high-caliber teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive business development activities, identifying opportunities with clients and leading proposal development in collaboration with ERM's Partners.
  • Manage projects on all aspects of low carbon fuels and chemicals, including supply chain technology and economics, business models, industry supply chains and status, investor support including due diligence, sustainability, and policy support.
  • Oversee the work of other consultants, setting tasks, supporting research and analysis, coaching junior staff, and reviewing and quality-assuring outputs.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and develop excellent client relationships.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of consulting market strategies, including thought leadership on the evolution of low carbon fuels and chemicals.

Estimated Salary: £90,000 - £110,000 per annum

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A degree in a relevant subject, ideally at Master's level or above.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in energy sustainability.
  • Strong commercial acumen combined with technical ability.
  • Ability to motivate and lead teams and potentially line manage individuals; experience in line management of less experienced staff is advantageous.
  • Drive, initiative, and ability to work independently.
  • Clear written and spoken communication for a range of audiences, including the ability to summarise complex information succinctly.
  • Fluent English, other languages welcome.
