Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced carbon market expert to join our advisory team at Valor Carbon. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for identifying and evaluating potential projects in emerging markets, preparing Project Design Documents (PDDs) under major registries such as Verra and Gold Standard.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Project Development: Develop high-quality carbon projects and prepare PDDs for registration under major registries.
  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders in emerging markets.
  • Market Research: Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify opportunities and trends in the carbon market.
  • Transaction Facilitation: Facilitate carbon credit transactions by finding buyers and sourcing supply, negotiating terms, and ensuring compliance with market standards.
  • Networking: Leverage and expand personal and company networks to identify and engage potential clients and partners.
  • Client Consulting: Provide data-driven consulting services to clients, helping them navigate the carbon market and optimize their carbon strategies.
  • Travel: Travel frequently to emerging market countries to meet with clients, attend conferences, and develop market insights.
  • Learning and Development: Continuously update knowledge on carbon markets, regulations, and industry best practices to provide expert advice and insights.

Requirements:

  • Education: Academic excellence expected, subject-agnostic. Advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Experience: Previous work experience in carbon or environmental consulting / research. Candidates with a background in management consulting, investment banking, or a related field will also be considered.
  • Skills: Strong networking and relationship-building skills, excellent communication and negotiation abilities, and analytical mindset.
  • Travel: Willingness and ability to travel extensively to emerging markets.
  • Adaptability: Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new markets, regulations, and industry developments.
  • Languages: Business or native fluency in multiple languages is highly desirable.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Annual Salary: $110,000 - $150,000, commensurate with experience and market standards.
  • Annual Leave: 23 holidays per year, plus public holidays.
  • Sick Pay: Full salary for up to 3 months, followed by half salary for an additional 3 months.
  • Bonus: Project-based performance bonuses.
  • Equity: Option awards will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
