About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Catering Team Leader to join our team at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. As a Catering Team Leader, you will be responsible for the supervision of staff employed to carry out a wide range of duties to meet the needs and expectations of all patient and customer groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage a team of catering staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality food and beverage services to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety and hygiene regulations, including HACCP and COSHH.
  • Develop and implement effective systems for managing food safety, stock control, and waste management.
  • Collaborate with the Catering Management Team to develop and implement catering strategies that meet the needs of patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for catering staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • NVQ 2 Customer Service (or equivalent skills and experience)
  • GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths
  • Level 3 Food Safety Certificate
  • NVQ level 3 in supervisory, Team Leader, or equivalent skills/experience
  • COSHH Training
Desirable
  • Willingness to undertake and achieve the Level 3 Food Safety Certificate
  • Diploma in supervisory management or equivalent experience
Experience
  • Previous supervisory catering experience in a similar role
  • Experience in high-volume catering operations and procedures
  • Working knowledge and understanding of relevant statutory workplace legislation and regulations, including Food Safety, Hygiene (kitchen/personal), Health & Safety, and Allergens
  • Experience in implementing food safety controls and stock control
  • Experience of supervising Health & Safety within a catering environment
