About the Role

Key Responsibilities

As a Governor, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Working closely with the Principal and senior leadership team to determine the school's mission, values, and long-term ambitions.
  • Policy Development: Deciding the principles that guide school policies and approving key policies.
  • Risk Management: Ensuring that robust risk management procedures are in place and that risk control measures are appropriate and effective.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitoring the school's impact and progress towards its strategic objectives.
  • Accountability: Holding the Principal to account for standards and compliance with agreed policies.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Strong Governance Skills: Experience of working in a governance role, with a strong understanding of governance principles and practices.
  • Strategic Thinking: The ability to think strategically and make informed decisions that align with the school's mission and values.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Time Commitment: A commitment to attending regular Governor meetings and participating in other governance activities as required.
