About the Role

Diverse Abilities is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Governor to join our team at Langside School. As a Governor, you will play a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of the school and ensuring its continued success.

Key Responsibilities

As a Governor, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Working closely with the Principal and senior leadership team to determine the school's mission, values, and long-term ambitions.
  • Policy Development: Deciding the principles that guide school policies and approving key policies to ensure the school operates effectively.
  • Risk Management: Ensuring robust risk management procedures are in place and that risk control measures are appropriate and effective.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitoring the school's impact and progress towards its strategic objectives, evaluating relevant data and feedback, and holding the Principal to account for standards and compliance.
  • Contributing to the Governing Body: Attending and participating in meetings, establishing and maintaining professional relationships with senior leaders and colleagues, and undertaking induction training and developing knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Strong Governance Experience: A proven track record of effective governance in a similar context.
  • Strategic Leadership Skills: The ability to think strategically and make informed decisions that drive the school's success.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Business Acumen: A good understanding of business principles and practices to inform governance decisions.
