About the Role
The Lead Pharmacist for Medication Safety and Governance will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of patient safety within Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This position requires a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist with a passion for clinical governance and risk management.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the Medication Safety Officer in improving medication error incident reporting and learning within the Trust.
- Coordinate, monitor, and audit actions to ensure compliance with Care Quality Commission criteria.
- Work closely with the Medication Safety Officer to improve medication safety within the Trust and ensure good clinical governance and risk management within medicines management activities.
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and audit the impact of medicines safety initiatives across the Trust.
- Be a key member of the Pharmacy Clinical Governance Meetings, ensuring any agreed plans or areas of concern are fully integrated into the overall Quality Management System within Pharmacy.
- Support the running of the Trust Medicines Safety Committee, produce Trust-wide medicines safety communication, and assist with the Trust PSIRF agenda work streams.

Requirements
- Pharmacy degree (Masters level) or equivalent.
- GPhC Pharmacist Registration.
- Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent (or close to completion).
- Validated expertise in hospital pharmacy.
- Evidence of relevant continued professional development.
- Audit/Research/Project experience.
- Experience of supervising and training staff.
- Policy and service development.
