We are seeking an exceptional strategic leader to spearhead our new county-wide tourism service in North Yorkshire. As Regional Tourism Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading this ambitious initiative and forming part of our Senior Leadership team for Economic Development, Regeneration, Tourism & Skills.

Company Overview

North Yorkshire Council is a unified authority that has brought together the eight councils serving the region to create geographically the largest council in the country. Our vision is to harness the natural beauty of North Yorkshire and its rich heritage to drive economic growth and improve the quality of life for our residents.

In April 2023, we launched a brand-new tourism service – Visit North Yorkshire – which aims to co-ordinate the implementation of our Destination Management Plan. This plan brings together public and private sector partners to promote, support, and grow the visitor economy.

Job Description

As Regional Tourism Director, you will be responsible for leading this new tourism service with resilience and vision. You will work closely with our Senior Leadership team to bring the plans to life and support the Council's journey as we develop a new Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP) for York and North Yorkshire.

You will also act as an ambassador for the Council at local, regional, and national levels, enhancing our reputation and influence, building partnerships, and enabling us to be a leader in the field.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary package, including a base salary of £80,000 - £100,000 per annum, depending on experience. We also offer a range of benefits, including a generous pension scheme, annual leave entitlement, and opportunities for professional development.
