Regulatory Lawyer

We are seeking a highly skilled and ambitious individual to join our Legal Service at North Yorkshire Council as a Regulatory Lawyer/Solicitor. The Legal Service is part of Legal and Democratic Services, supporting the provision of a comprehensive and efficient legal service to the Directorates, the Council's Executive, full Council, Committees, and Members, as well as external clients.

The role requires a flexible and versatile approach, working with colleagues and Members at every level, external clients, and managing the performance of staff within its responsibility. As a Regulatory Lawyer/Solicitor, you will advise on law relating to licensing, housing, environmental health, anti-social behaviour, prosecutions, and other matters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise on law relating to licensing, housing, environmental health, anti-social behaviour, prosecutions, and other matters.
• Support the provision of a comprehensive and efficient legal service to the Directorates, the Council's Executive, full Council, Committees, and Members, as well as external clients.
• Manage the performance of staff within its responsibility.
• Work with colleagues and Members at every level, external clients, and partners.

Requirements:

• Demonstrate knowledge of law in one of the areas within the regulatory (including licensing) and housing portfolios.
• Have the ability to communicate effectively in writing to produce documents in a range of formats and styles to suit a range of audiences and produce a representative record of meeting discussions and actions.
• Knowledge or experience of working in Local Authority is advantageous but not essential.
