Essex County Council is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Manager to join our Corporate team. As a key member of our procurement function, you will be responsible for managing transformational procurement projects to support the corporate service and technology categories.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement category strategies to ensure alignment with commissioning objectives
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver complex projects and enhance levels of service while minimizing costs
- Manage suppliers to ensure they meet performance standards and protect the Authority's interests
- Identify and investigate contractual, commercial, and market risks to ensure continuity of supply
- Lead major projects and tenders, ensuring compliance with legislation and regulation
Requirements:
- Relevant professional qualification such as MCIPS and/or equivalent demonstrable work experience
- Knowledge of category management and experience of using this methodology in complex commercial environments
- Demonstrable track record of managing multi-million pound strategic contracts in business-critical environments
- Experience of delivering continuous improvements in large, strategic arrangements
- Comprehensive negotiating skills and ability to plan and deliver successful negotiations
