Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Educational support for students with SEMH needs is crucial in promoting their social, emotional, and mental well-being. Empowering Learning seeks a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant SEMH School in Gainsborough.

This role plays a pivotal part in delivering high-quality SEMH interventions, empowering students to access and engage with the curriculum fully.

  • The successful candidate will implement work programmes for individuals and groups outside the conventional classroom environment.

Main Duties Include:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitating students' physical, emotional, and educational development in a safe and structured environment.
  • Establishing positive relationships with students, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
  • Planning and delivering targeted SEMH interventions and promoting self-esteem and personal achievement.
  • Identifying and setting targets for students with identified SEMH needs, including those receiving external agency support.
  • Participating in meetings to discuss student progress and strategies, ensuring a collaborative approach to student development.
  • Employing observation, assessment, and monitoring strategies to support SEMH students effectively, while maintaining close communication with the Inclusion Department leadership.
Requirements:

£28,000 - £35,000 per annum depending on experience.

A degree-level qualification in Education, Social Work, or a related field is required. Relevant experience working with children/young people with SEMH needs is also essential. DBS clearance is mandatory, along with references covering at least the last 2 years.
