**Job Description: Freelance Therapeutic Activity Support Worker**

We are seeking highly motivated and dedicated Therapeutic Activity Support Workers to join our team. As a Therapeutic Activity Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing assistance and support to vulnerable young people who may have emotional, behavioural and social difficulties.

You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those you work with by offering practical support, guidance, and encouragement in structured therapeutically driven programmes of adventure and activity.

All work will consist of overnight shifts and daytime work, usually starting and finishing at 10:00am covering weekdays, weekends and bank holidays.

**Rate of Pay**

£15 per hour

£50 per sleep in

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide two-to-one support to young people
- Offer emotional support and companionship, actively listening to young people’s concerns and providing reassurance.
- Encourage and motivate young people to engage in activities based on their interests, abilities, and goals. Promoting physical, emotional and social development.
- Adapt activities and materials to meet the unique needs and abilities of each young person.
- Promote independence and empowerment by encouraging young people to participate in decision-making and problem-solving.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes wellbeing, social interaction, and personal growth.
- Collaborate with young people, their families, and other professionals to develop and implement personalised plans.
- Advocate for young people’s rights, promote and assist young people’s access to resources, services, and opportunities that enhance their wellbeing.
- Monitor and document young people’s progress, behaviour, participation in activities and any changes in their physical or emotional well-being.
- Promote the wellbeing of children at all times and safeguard them from harm.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards.

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience in support work, caregiving, activity instructing or a related field is preferred but not essential.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport and build trust with young people.
- Ability to adapt to different situations and work effectively in a variety of environments.
- Flexibility to work on a freelance basis, including days, nights and weekends.
- Basic computer skills to record and report on individuals' progress.
- Desirable but not essential: outdoor instructor qualifications, Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
- Desirable to hold a First Aid Qualification
